Cancer Training

EAWA has been working in partnership with the Early Diagnosis, UCLH Cancer Collaborative in their Highlight and Deflate Cancer Campaign. As part of their work one of their main remits is to improve the earlier diagnosis of cancer in order for patients to get the best opportunities of having curative treatments.

Their HIGHLIGHT Cancer project focuses on building a network of ambassadors within the community that can raise awareness locally. They work with Cancer Research UK to deliver their Talk Cancer training to the ambassadors and they will be supporting them to share their knowledge once they complete the training. Deflate Cancer is about raising awareness at Events, shopping centres etc. with information and a 25 ft colon as an interactive tool.

EAWA having a remit of health and wellbeing work was identified as a partner.

EAWA has provided network contacts in Enfield Borough, so that other partnerships could be formed.

In this partnership the UCLH:

  • Has held a stall at the EAWA AGM with over 100 attendees in October 2017
  • Provided training as described to EAWA staff, volunteers and members of its 50 plus Activity Club, on 9th February 2018
  • Plus provided the Deflate Cancer Program at the Over 50’s Winter Fair on 16th February 2018

We wish to thank the UCLH Cancer Collaborative team for their excellent work in the Community.
