Fall-STOP Service for London Borough of Enfield Residents
EAWA, having seen the negative impact of falls on elderly people, was concerned about the levels of help available to them. When the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group advertised a specification inviting models to deal with an aspect of this matter, the EAWA Board and CEO had a meeting to put an outline model together.
We then called Age UK Enfield, the Over 50s Forum and Enfield Community Transport, etc. to form a partnership. We all met and finalized the details and elected AGE UK Enfield to be the lead partner in putting forward a bid. This Bid was successful. There is now a Falls STOP service. EAWA is a steering group member and engages in the delivery of this project. Please see the information below about this service.
The ‘Fall Stop’ service aims to provide support to anyone over the age of 50 who has had a fall or is at risk of falling. The Falls Service has employed Falls Prevention Navigators who arrange a home visit, undertake an assessment, and, based on needs identified, refer the person to the relevant professional(s) and/or arrange for attendance at weekly Drop in Clinics.
The Clinics provide:
- Advice and Information about how to prevent a fall
- Information about other services which can support falls prevention
- Exercise Sessions to help gain strength and increase balance
- Tai Chi Sessions to promote balance and relaxation
The current drop in clinics, (attendance by referral and transport can be arranged), are at:

Monday 1.00pm – 1.45pm
